The latest
album from the award-winning band, Audio Adrenaline, is a modern rock treat that
runs the gamut from scorching guitar licks to coffeehouse, hippie-style poetry.
High points are easy to find here.
If
you’re ready for a few loud moments, crank up the cascading guitars featured
in determined title song, “Underdog.” The raucous chorus in the anthem,
“Mighty Good Leader” is also fun at high volume too.
For a
tamer tune that still has an edge, check out the radio-friendly “Jesus
Movement”—a musical reminder of Jesus’ power all over the world. The
remake of the classic hymn, “It Is Well” is surprisingly worshipful too,
sung as a duet with Jennifer Knapp. Its muted background showcases well the
soul-weary roughness of Mark Stuart’s expressive voice
And, for
the swinger in you, there’s, “DC-10.” This little ditty, reminiscent of
groups like the Stray Cats and the Brian Setzer Orchestra, asks plainly, “Do
you know where you’re gonna go / straight to heaven / or down the hole?”
Overall,
Audio Adrenaline has again created a diverse and winning collection of modern
rock/alternative melodies in Underdog. Feel free to add it to the soundtrack of
