HELLO LOVE

Chris Tomlin / Sixsteprecords (EMI)

Fan Appeal: All Ages

Genre: Worship

As expected, in Hello Love, Chris Tomlin delivers a hard-hitting worship album that’s sure to be a classic.

One of the greatest things about a Chris Tomlin album is that we go into it with high expectations, and he doesn’t let us down. He can just keep on going and going, like that Energizer Bunny or something. Probably my favorite experience on this particular CD is “God Almighty.” This song starts with a beautiful string section that continues throughout, and delivers lyrics that simply - and beautifully - state how wonderful and awesome God is. Breathtaking.

Another high point here is the title track for the newest Passion CD, “God of This City.” This melody speaks of who God is to us and how, even through His greatness, there are still greater things that He will do. One more excellent song is the opener “Sing, Sing, Sing.” This one talks about how role as worshippers who sing along and making music with the heavens. It also communicates how God is the only one truly deserving of our praise. This song is a wonderful opener because it is high energy and really draws the listener in, helping us to focus on the priority of the album as a whole: God himself.

The only negative thing about this CD is that there isn’t much musical change from any of his previous works, although that isn’t necessarily what we look for in a Chris Tomlin album. But for those of you who want an artist that progresses with his or her every album, this probably isn’t it.

Overall, though, I would definitely recommend this to parents and kids alike.
